One of the basic goals and tasks of the Vakuf Directorate is to undertake activities to protect the vakuf property throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and to affirm the vakuf as a permanent good.

Improvement and revitalization of waqf property.

Providing legal assistance to the medžlises of the Islamic Community regarding waqf property matters.

Initiating legal proceedings and administrative procedures to protect waqfs before competent domestic courts and administrative authorities.

Conducting a comprehensive inventory of waqf property in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Identifying new waqifs through the endowment of real estate, movable assets, and financial resources, and preparing waqf deeds (vukufnamas) for them.

Monitoring the process of leasing waqf property.

Overseeing and ensuring the legality of procedures in waqf transformation matters (exchange of waqf properties for other real estate, sale of waqf properties for the purchase of other properties in the interest of the waqf, etc.).

Appointing mutawallis and supervising medžlises in managing waqf property.

Monitoring activities related to the repurchase of nationalized waqf apartments and the allocation of replacement apartments.

Tracking developments regarding the adoption of the Law on Restitution or Denationalization and other related matters.

Supervising the management and utilization of waqf property in accordance with waqf deeds (vakufnamas).

Entering waqf-related data into a unified database and information system.

Organizing the Waqf Days event.

Organizing seminars on waqfs.

Implementing waqf projects aimed at strengthening the economic position of the Islamic Community.
