The Waqf Directorate of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in collaboration with the Welfare Association, recently successfully implemented a project donating 40 wheelchairs to healthcare institutions in Bihać, Velika Kladuša, Bosanska Krupa, and Bosanski Petrovac.

The project was funded by waqf resources with significant support from the Welfare Association. Through this donation, healthcare institutions in these cities received essential equipment that facilitates easier access to medical care for people with disabilities.

This initiative was carried out in response to requests from the healthcare institutions themselves, which had expressed a need for additional wheelchairs to improve conditions and the quality of care for patients with disabilities. The Waqf Directorate and the Welfare Association, with the support of a partner organization from Kuwait, secured the necessary funds to make this important initiative a reality. This donation is yet another example of how waqfs can positively impact communities by raising healthcare standards and promoting humanitarian efforts.

The project was implemented alongside the event dedicated to the late Grand Mufti Džemaludin Čaušević, which was held in the same cities. Čaušević’s vision of community progress through education, solidarity, and humanitarian work is reflected in this project, which serves as a concrete example of his legacy in the service of society.

The Director of the Waqf Directorate, Hafiz Dr. Senaid Zajimović, stated:
"Waqfs serve as a bridge between the past and the future. Their purpose is to benefit the broader social community, and through this donation, we reaffirm that waqf institutions are not just part of our historical heritage but also an active force in improving everyday life."
