In 2024, the Waqf Directorate launched a project to renovate the roofs of nearly all buildings within the Gazaz complex. During 2024, the roof of the building used by Maarif School and the building housing the Waqf Directorate's headquarters were successfully renovated. Work on the remaining buildings will continue throughout 2025.
The Gazaz Waqf Complex was originally built as the Al Walidein-Gazaz Elementary School and opened in the 1999/2000 school year. After the school ceased operations, the complex was returned to the management of the Waqf Directorate. Today, the 25,000 m² complex hosts the Waqf Directorate's headquarters, the Media Center of the Islamic Community, Maarif Schools Sarajevo, and the male dormitory of Gazi Husrev-bey’s Madrasah.
