As a means of supporting youth education, science, and research, the Waqf Fund for Educational Support has been established.

Waqfs have historically emerged as a response to social needs, particularly to combat poverty and facilitate access to education. Many students are unable to complete their studies due to financial difficulties.

The Waqf Directorate prioritizes assisting younger generations in their education and seeks to ease their academic journey. These efforts are primarily carried out through the "Bošnjaci" Fund in Sarajevo, whose founder and benefactor was the late President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović. The fund’s core activities focus on education, science, culture, and ensuring economic, financial, and social security for the Bosniak community.

In addition to the "Bošnjaci" Fund, the Waqf Directorate has directly provided scholarships to more than 200 students studying natural, social, and humanities sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.

The main objectives of this fund include:

  • Encouraging young generations to pursue scientific studies;
  • Reviving and promoting academic research;
  • Developing a network of experts, particularly in the field of waqf studies;
  • Providing scientific works in various disciplines;
  • Establishing libraries with diverse content.

The Waqf Directorate allows donors to specify the purpose of their endowment, ensuring that their waqf contributions align with both their intent and the educational needs of society.
